Hi, I’m Sarah Bolor, LCSW and founder of Say It Mental Health, where I work with high-achieving women to navigate burnout, perfectionism, and emotional disconnection. While my practice was built to be supportive, flexible, and client-centered, one tool has made this mission even more accessible: teletherapy.
I was recently featured in Tebra’s The Intake article on how teletherapy is transforming mental health care—and I’ve seen this transformation firsthand. Read the article here:
Virtual therapy is no longer a backup plan. For many women I work with, it’s the only way they can consistently show up for their mental health—while still managing their demanding careers, families, and full lives.
What Is Teletherapy?
Teletherapy, also known as telehealth therapy, is a virtual mental health session conducted over a secure video platform. These sessions are scheduled just like traditional in-person appointments, but they take place wherever you are—whether that’s in your office between meetings, from your living room, or while traveling.
At Say It Mental Health, I use a HIPAA-compliant, secure platform to ensure that your privacy and confidentiality are always protected. Clients receive login information ahead of time and complete all paperwork—including intake forms and consent—digitally, with just a few clicks.
What to Expect From a Telehealth Session
Telehealth sessions follow the same structure as in-person therapy. During your first appointment, we’ll complete a comprehensive intake to explore your history, current concerns, and therapy goals. From there, we’ll schedule regular sessions to support you with the tools and strategies you need.
Throughout our work together, I use evidence-based modalities to address issues like:
- Emotional burnout and high-functioning anxiety
- Work-life imbalance
- Perfectionism and imposter syndrome
- Nervous system overwhelm and chronic stress
- Relationship challenges and self-worth
Thanks to today’s technology, updated electronic health record (EHR) platforms allow me to do everything in one place—scheduling, intake, secure messaging, billing, and therapy—making it seamless for both of us.
Why High-Achieving Women Love Teletherapy
For the women I work with—many of whom are attorneys, executives, and leaders—teletherapy offers freedom. No commuting. No need to leave work early or find child care. Just a quiet, private space and a device with a camera.
Some of the biggest benefits include:
Accessibility: Get support from anywhere, even with a busy travel schedule or remote work lifestyle.
Flexibility: Schedule sessions during breaks or before/after your workday.
Comfort: Meet from a space where you feel safe and at ease.
Many of my clients report feeling more open and relaxed during virtual sessions, which helps deepen the therapeutic process. And no, telehealth is not “less effective” than in-person care. Research—and my daily experience with clients—continues to show that virtual therapy is just as impactful when it’s done well.
Clearing Up Common Teletherapy Misconceptions
Let’s address a few common myths:
“It’s not as effective as in-person therapy.”
→ Studies and clinical experience show that teletherapy is equally effective for many issues, especially when consistency and rapport are prioritized.
“It’s not private.”
→ All sessions are conducted over secure, encrypted platforms. As the client, your job is simply to find a private space where you won’t be interrupted.
“It’s complicated to set up.”
→ Not at all. I walk all of my clients through the simple login process, and you’ll receive everything you need ahead of time—from consent forms to access links.
Telehealth Makes Mental Health More Sustainable
Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, adjusting medications, or just need consistent space to process and grow, virtual therapy allows for more sustainable support. It improves follow-through, makes it easier to stay accountable, and offers ongoing flexibility as life shifts.
At Say It Mental Health, I’m proud to use telehealth as a tool for increasing access—especially for women who give so much to others and are finally ready to give back to themselves.
